- diabetic ulcers,
- acute wounds such as trauma wounds and post-operative surgical wounds.

Effect
Cutimed Cavity absorbs exudate whilst maintaining a moist wound environment.
Contra-Indications

- Dry wounds
- Deep cavity wounds with small openings
Not for surgical implantation.
Directions for Use
Wound Preparation
- Debride when necessary and irrigate the wound in accordance with normal practice.
- Remove excess moisture from surrounding skin.
Dressing Application
- Select an appropriate dressing according to wound size.
- Aseptically, loosely fold the dressing or roll up the dressing according to the wound shape. If necessary, the dressing can be cut to size. (fig. A)
- Loosely pack the cavity wound with the dressing (do not fill more than approx. 60% of the wound). (fig. B) Do not pack the cavity wound tightly, as on absorption of exudate the dressing will expand to fill the cavity wound. (fig. D)
- Cover Cutimed Cavity with a suitable secondary dressing for example a film dressing, Cutimed Siltec B or a rentention bandage. (fig. C)
- If necessary, Cutimed Cavity can be used in combination, with other dressings e.g. Cutimed Sorbact (in case of infected wounds) or Cutimed Gel (for dry, necrotic wounds).
Infected Wounds
- If the wound is infected, appropriate medical treatment should be initiated.
- Application of the Cutimed Cavity may be continued at the discretion of the clinician.
- Cutimed Cavity may be used on an infected wound in addition to an antimicrobial therapy under medical supervision.
Dressing Change and Removal
- Cutimed Cavity can remain in situ for up to 7 days, dependent on patient condition and exudate levels. It is recommended the dressing is changed every 24 hours initially moving to less frequent changes as necessary. Please follow your local clinical protocol.
- Carefully remove the secondary dressing or bandage, and gently remove Cutimed Cavity from the wound bed and discard.
- If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline solution prior to removal.
- If required, cleanse the wound site prior to application of a new cavity dressing.
