Cutimed Gel releases moisture and is used to treat necrotic and coated wounds, whilst Cutimed Sorbact Hydroactive absorbs moisture and is used to treat infected and coated wounds. The low water vapor permeability helps to preserve the moist wound environment. Macerations are not aided if the recommended period of application for Cutimed Sorbact Hydroactive of a maximum of 4 days is adhered to. In the case of a longer period of application to severely exuding and/or infected wounds, macerations may ensue in extremely rare cases. These patients are advised to use Cutimed PROTECT in order to prevent macerations.
