Cutimed Sorbact swabs and ribbon gauzes are very compatible with hydroactive dressings, e.g. to ensure a moist wound environment, as long as Cutimed Sorbact has direct contact with the wound bed and the secondary dressing does not contain any fatty substances (e.g. paraffin, ointments or creams).
Yes, Cutimed Sorbact can be used with ringer or saline solution. Also compatible are commonly used wound irrigation solutions based on octenidine (e.g. Octenisept®), hexamethylene biguanide (e.g. Lavasept®), or ethacridine (acrinol, e.g. Rivanol®).
There are no known contraindications for Cutimed Sorbact absorbent pads, swabs or ribbon gauzes.
To achieve an bacteria-binding effect in the wound, Cutimed Sorbact must have direct contact with the wound bed. Therefore it must be applied as the primary dressing and never as a secondary dressing.
Certainly, there is no interaction between systemic antibiotic therapy and local bacteria-binding treatment with Cutimed Sorbact.
