What are the indications for Cutimed Sorbact?

Unclean, colonised or infected wounds regardless of aetiology, e.g. chronic wounds (diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, pressure sores), post-operative dehisced wounds, traumatic wounds, or wounds after excision of fistulae or abscesses.

Cutimed Sorbact is also effective in dermal fungal infections.

In dry or low exuding wounds, Cutimed Sorbact gel is recommended to provide the necessary moisture needed for the bacteria binding effect and to avoid any potential of sticking to the wound.

What are the indications for Cutimed Sorbact gel?

Cutimed Sorbact gel dressings impregnated with amorphous hydrogel are designed for dry or low exuding unclean, colonised or infected wounds.

The hydrogel additionally promotes autolytic debridement in sloughy or partially necrotic wounds.

Are there any contraindications?

There are no known contraindications for Cutimed Sorbact absorbent pads, swabs or ribbon gauzes.

Cutimed Sorbact gel should not be used in case of known sensitivity to propylene glycol. In these cases it is recommended to use Cutimed Sorbact swabs in combination with Cutimed Gel which does not contain propylene glycol.

All products can be used without hesitation during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as on children.

When should Cutimed Sorbact be used?

Cutimed Sorbact and Cutimed Sorbact gel can be used in any wound where the primary goal is to remove micro-organisms (bacteria or fungi) in order to activate or support the natural wound healing process. This also includes preventive antiseptic treatment of wounds at risk of infection (e.g. in traumatic wounds).
