SMTL fluid donation test

In 2007 the reputable british testing institute SMTL undertook a test of the fluid affinity of five amorphous hydrogel products.

Test method

The test material is placed onto the surface of a series of plugs of gelatine. After 48 hours the test material is removed from the plugs which are then re-weighed. From these results the percentage change in weight of each hydrogel sample is calculated.

Conclusion

With a decrease of more than 12% of weight the fluid donation capacity for Cutimed Gel is considerable. None of the products reached similar values.
