Product description
Cutimed Gel is a transparent, amorphous hydrogel. It supports a moist wound environment and thereby contributes to autolytic wound cleansing.
Ingredients
Carbomer 940, purified water, glycerol, sodium hydroxide, EDTA sodium.
Application areas
Cutimed Gel supports autolytic cleansing of necrotic or unclean wounds (e.g, lightly weeping ulcera cruris, diabetic foot syndrome or decubital ulcers). Additionally, it can be used to produce a moist, physiological wound environment in later wound healing phases.
Warning
Cutimed Gel is intended for external application only. Cutimed Gel may also be used on an infected wound in addition to an antimicrobial therapy under medical supervision.
Effect
By releasing moisture, Cutimed Gel macerates necroses and wound coating and facilitates effective tissue-conserving debridement of the wound. As a result, the wound may appear to become larger during initial changes of dressing, however, this is a sign that the healing process has begun.
Contraindications
Known hypersentitivity to the gel or individual ingredients
Notes on application
Cutimed Gel may be applied either
A • straight from the tube
B • using a spatula
C • using a sterile applicator tip, e.g., on a deeper wound
(1) Open the cap and (2) remove the sterile seal. If required, (3) remove the applicator tip from the sterile packaging and (4) screw it onto the nozzle of the tube.
- First irrigate the wound with Ringer's solution, physiological saline solution, etc.
- Then apply the Cutimed Gel, completely covering the necrotic wound surfaces.
- In order to maintain the physiological, moist wound environment, cover the wound with a suitable secondary dressing.
Changing the dressing
To clean necrotic or unclean wounds we recommend that the dressing be changed and Cutimed Gel reapplied after 3 days. In the case of clean wounds in the granulation or epithelial phase, the optimal time to change the dressing should be judged according to the exudate quantity. At the latest, the dressing should be changed when the secondary dressing is no longer waterproof or has become saturated.
Notes on storage
Store at room temperature and protect from frost.
The hydrogel and applicator are gamma-sterilized.
Do not re-sterilize.
